By MILA Beauty — where beauty meets intention

Your wedding morning sets the tone for your entire day. It’s where the anticipation builds, the energy begins, and some of the most intimate, emotional moments unfold. And while it should feel calm and joyful, that only happens with one key element in place: a well-planned timeline.
At MILA Beauty, we believe your morning should feel effortless—not rushed. Here’s how to structure your getting-ready timeline so everything flows beautifully. And we can help!
Start with Your Ceremony Time
Your entire beauty timeline works backward from your ceremony.
From there, you’ll factor in:
Photographer arrival time
First look (if you’re doing one)
Travel time to your venue
Buffer time (this is essential)
A realistic timeline ensures you’re fully ready at least 30–45 minutes before you need to leave or begin photos.
How Long Does Hair & Makeup Take?
Timing depends on your group size and how many artists you have.
On average:
Bridal hair: 45–60 minutes
Bridal makeup: 45–60 minutes
Bridesmaids/guests: 30–45 minutes per service
This is why having a professional team matters—multiple artists allow your morning to stay relaxed instead of rushed.
Why the Bride Goes Later in the Timeline
We always recommend the bride goes closer to the end.
This ensures:
Your look is fresh for photos and ceremony
There’s time for any final adjustments
You’re not sitting “ready” for hours
It also creates a natural, elevated transition into getting dressed and stepping into your day. And gives you time to relax and enjoy every moment of the morning.
Build in Buffer Time (This Is Non-Negotiable)
If there’s one thing we emphasize most—it’s buffer time.
Add at least:
15–30 minutes for unexpected delays
Extra time before photos begin
A moment to breathe, hydrate, and reset
Without buffer time, even a small delay can create a domino effect for your entire day.
Create the Right Getting-Ready Environment
Your space matters more than you think.
For the best experience, choose a space with:
Natural light (ideal for makeup application and photos)
Enough room for your party and vendors
A clean, uncluttered area
Ask your Hair & MU team what they provide (Ex: their own tables, stools, lighting etc.). If they don't you'll want to make sure they have enough surface space for their set up and some stools (bar or counter height are best for makeup).
A calm, organized environment directly impacts how your morning feels.
Prep Your Bridal Party Ahead of Time
A smooth timeline depends on everyone being ready.
Make sure your bridal party:
Arrives on time (or early)
Has clean, dry hair
A clean, product free face
Knows their assigned time slot
This keeps everything moving efficiently and eliminates unnecessary stress.
Have a Touch-Up Plan
Even the most long-wear beauty needs a little refresh.
Consider:
A small touch-up kit (lipstick, powder, blotting papers)
Scheduling your artist for touch-ups post-ceremony
Planning for weather (heat, humidity, wind)
This keeps you looking polished from first look to final dance.
